54 TOURISM WINNIPEG | www.meetingswinnipeg.com Guys n i g ht out: D ownt ow n W i nn i pe g B I Z ar rive early, stay later [ ] Start the day "working" your way around Thermëa's reju- venating facilities, where folks in the know do a routine of hot thermal pools, followed by a cool walk underneath the wa- terfall, before entering a steam room or Scandinavian sauna. After a couple slow cycles you'll feel like a whole new woman – plus you can do a lady's lunch in their excellent dining room where wearing a robe is mandatory (which pairs nicely with a glass of pinot gris). From there, head over for retail therapy at CF Polo Park, Winnipeg's largest shopping mall where fashionable brands like Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Michael Kors, and Steve Madden are all available. The Exchange District is the place to be for a little night- life. Incredible handcrafted cocktails can be found at Forth – where the city's hipset tend to congregate, while restaurants like deer + almond, Peasant Cookery, and The Mitchell Block will see your taste buds singing in cool settings. Winnipeg is home to some die-hard sports fans, as evidenced at the MTS Centre during Winnipeg Jets games, which is often labeled as the best atmosphere in the NHL. The MTS Centre is also home to the Jets' AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, which will give you a glimpse of possible future NHL stars. Pre-gaming downtown can often be equally exciting, with great restaurant bars like The Merchant Kitchen, The Pint and Rudy's Eat and Drink all just steps from the arena. On the gridiron throughout summer and fall the Winnipeg Blue Bombers call Investors Group Field home. Fast-paced Canadian football always gets the crowds going, plus chances are you'll get to witness the Bomber fans' legendary beer snakes – a true cultural phenomenon. We also have our own boys of summer with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, who play baseball in the fantastic Shaw Park, which is located right downtown. Trips to Winnipeg are always par for the course, as the city and surrounding countryside are studded with golf courses, whose levels range from championship level greens that host PGA Tour Canada events, to a casual 9-hole, par-3 course. Visiting in the winter and still want to get in the swing of things? No worries, The Golf Dome has you covered with a driving range, virtual golf (featuring some of the world's best courses) and mini golf. Gals Getaway Guys Getaway Codename: girls gone mild Codename: who let the dogs out? Do some serious gaming at the Casinos of Winnipeg, including Shark Club, Club Regent Casino and McPhillips Station Casino, while the thrills of live horse racing can be experienced at Assiniboia Downs throughout summer.
