On January 28, 1914, renowned Canadian feminist and social activist
Nellie McClung and her fellow suffragists staged a mock parliament at
the Walker Theatre in Winnipeg (now the Burton Cummings Theatre),
exactly two years before women won the right to vote in Manitoba.
