May 19, 2017 Mr. Michael Graham President World Police and Fire Games Federation 8304 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., #107 San Diego, California 92111 USA Re: Letter of Support – 2023 World Police and Fire Games Dear Mr. Graham, Sport Manitoba is pleased to offer its full support to Winnipeg's Bid committee in their bid to bring the 2023 World Police and Fire Games to Winnipeg, Manitoba. As the lead planning, programming and funding agency for the development of amateur sport in Manitoba, we envision creating the best sport community through initiative and leadership and by establishing a highly supportive environment for athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers. With over 60,000 volunteers in Manitoba committed to developing sport, we are certain Manitobans will volunteer in large numbers for the opportunity to showcase athletic excellence in the sporting events. Winnipeg has a strong record of hosting very successful national and international events including the highly successful 1999 Pan American Games, the 2002 North American Indigenous Games and 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup (soccer). In addition, Winnipeg will host the 2017 Canada Summer Games from July 28 to August 13, 2017. The Winnipeg Fire Service and the Winnipeg Police Service have supported members attending the World Police and Fire Games since they commenced in 1985. Hosting the games in Winnipeg also showcases the local police and fire departments and elevates their value amongst their peers throughout the world. Our history of dedicated supporters, volunteers and excellent facilities make Winnipeg an ideal choice to host the 2023 World Police and Fire Games. Sport Manitoba, the City of Winnipeg, and all Manitobans are more than capable and not only ready but excited to host the 2023 World Police and Fire Games. Sincerely, SPORT MANITOBA Jeff Hnatiuk President & CEO
