The United fire fighters of Winnipeg, Local 867 of the Interna onal Associa on of Fire Fighters is extremely
pleased that the City of Winnipeg has been short listed to the final round of selec on for the 2023 World
Police & Fire Games. Several members of the Winnipeg Fire Department have won medals at these games
in the past and UFFW fully supports the Bid Commi ee.
Chad Swayze, the Bid Commi ee Co-Chair and many other UFFW members have been instrumental in
pu ng forth Winnipeg's bid. This has been done in conjunc on with Travel Manitoba, Tourism Winnipeg,
Sport Manitoba, Provincial & Municipal Governments, Winnipeg Police Service and members of the
Winnipeg Fire Department. We know that the bid commi ee will show Winnipeg at its best for the final
bid presenta on.
The Winnipeg Fire Department and the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg have been leaders across North
American fire services when it comes to fire fighter safety and presump ve cancer legisla on. We look
forward in being leaders on the WPFG 2023 Winnipeg Host Commi ee and pu ng on the best games
possible.
We hope that Winnipeg will be the host city of the games and can assure you that members of the
United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg are ready to volunteer and assist wherever, whenever and in
whatever capacity they are needed.
