B U S I N E S S P L A N • 2 8 Winnipeg and Manitoba are fortunate to have outstanding support from all media outlets in all forms. Past support has helped make major events in Winnipeg consistent front-page news. Keeping communication flowing to the media and to the key markets for the 2023 World Police and Fire Games is critical. Regular press releases, public service announcements social media and website updates will inform and create awareness of the value of the event, build community support for ticket sales and volunteers and foster the sense of excitement and celebration around the games and festival. Public relation press releases will speak to: introducing the various merchandise lines, recognizing major sponsors, and the launching of special events and community fundraising activities. WEBSITE A 2023 World Police and Fire Games website will be established. We understand that the website is the property of the World Police and Fire Games Federation and we will work in partnership on the site and content. It will feature a history of the event, videos, sport schedule, current weekly and daily (as the event gets closer) updates and information on the competition. There will be various sections created containing an outline of the WPFG 2023 Host Society activities, links for each sport and special events as well as merchandise purchase opportunities, sponsorship recognition and tourism package information for visitors. The WPFG 2023 Host Society also wishes to incorporate interactive elements to make the site fun and encourage repeat visitations. We will investigate the potential of creating a contest perhaps geared more towards youth, involving sport profiles so they can become familiar with each sport and feel a sense of belonging for the event. The website will also play host to live broadcasting/streaming of the events. This has a number of benefits; it can help generate interest in the event with an entirely new audience, and secondly as an additional source of revenue. SOCIAL MEDIA The 2023 World Police and Fire Games social media presence will span several relevant social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter. The WPFG 2023 Host Society will build its audience by leveraging the large and influential social media audiences of the local city police and fire departments, sport organizations and the destination marketing organizations. Curated and engaging content will be distributed in multiple formats and channels to build awareness, excitement and increase conversation about the games. Live broadcasting through these channels will also be featured during the games, along with video content of interviews with athletes, contests, sponsorship opportunities, on location updates, and behind-the-scenes access. ADVERTISING Based on the full support our bid has from the local media and our past experience, media sponsorships of $700,000 would be sought for value in-kind advertising and media support. Using a multi-platform approach of print, digital, social and radio, the advertising campaign will focus on the primary and secondary geographic markets and will have a schedule from August 2022 through July 2023. The first focus of the advertising campaign will be to create event awareness. It will be followed by a campaign that will have a strong call to action — to attend the games, and to purchase merchandise and special event passes. COMMUNIC ATIONS AND MEDIA PL AN "The 2023 World Police and Fire Games at the heart of the continent will be highly visible."
