O P E R A T I O N A L P L A N • 4 0 The 2023 WPFG Host Society designate representatives as part of the Operations Committee, specifically dedicated to assisting participants with the Canadian visa process. ENTERING CANADA FROM THE UNITED STATES (UNITED STATES CITIZENS) » Canadian law requires that all persons entering Canada carry both proof of citizenship and proof of identity. A valid U.S. passport, passport card, or NEXUS card satisfies these requirements for U.S. citizens. » Children under 16 need only present proof of U.S. citizenship. ENTERING CANADA FROM COUNTRIES OTHER THAN THE UNITED STATES (INTERNATIONAL CITIZENS) » Visitors entering Canada from countries other than the United States, require a valid passport. International visitors may also require other documentation such as a visa. It is recommended that International visitors make contact with a Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate for further information in advance of their travel. » If International visitors plan on prolonging their stay in Canada, for either pleasure travel or business, other travel documentation or authorization may be required, contacting the Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate responsible for their region or visiting the Canadian Government website for more travel information is advised. The RCMP have an excellent working relationship with the local Canada Border Services Agency, and will gladly assist with the facilitation for importation and registration of all firearms for the WPFG. Without exception, all firearms must be declared. The RCMP will gladly assist the participants with all permits and declarations required from the Chief Firearms Officer for Manitoba. CL ASSES OF FIREARMS AND DEVICES There are three classes of firearms in Canada: » Non-restricted (most common rifles and shotguns): These may generally be imported for purposes such as hunting, protection from wild animals in remote wilderness areas where firearms are allowed, or target-shooting. They may also be taken in transit through Canada by a reasonably direct route. » Restricted: (longer-barrelled handguns, some types of long guns) These are allowed for certain purposes, such as target shooting at an approved club or range, but they are not allowed for hunting or self protection. » Prohibited: (shorter-barrelled handguns, automatic weapons) These cannot be brought into Canada.
