R o ber t T i n ke r R o y a l W i nn i pe g Ba ll et A TOUR THAT'S ALMOST TU GOOD TU BE TRUE No tiptoeing around it, students will be enthralled when the curtain is pulled back for a behind the scenes tour of Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB). The RWB is both the second oldest ballet company in North America and a national cultural icon, and this en pointe experience offers a chance to see some of the painstaking work that goes into producing beautiful and inspiring ballets that touch people's hearts. Depending on the daily schedule, students may witness rehearsals, meet the physiotherapists and visit the astounding wardrobe department, all while learning of the company's storied history from guides who are themselves former professional RWB dancers. rwb.org - 204.957.3467 THE STAGE IS SET Winnipeg's famed Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre (MTC) always relishes the chance to share the love of theatre with young people. During theatre season (fall through late spring) MTC can provide teachers with an enriched experience when bringing their students to a performance at either the John Hirsch Mainstage or Tom Hendry Warehouse. Before the curtain comes up, students can take a tour of the facilities to learn about all the different jobs – from wardrobe, to sound, to set decoration – that go into staging a play, while after the curtain comes down MTC provides study guides that will bring the performance back to the classroom, dictating exercises that engage your class' critical thinking skills while giving them a further appreciation of literature and live theatre. royalmtc.ca – 204.943.0304
