Step into the oldest building in
Winnipeg and the largest oak log
structure in North America. Located
within the historic Grey Nuns Convent,
the museum preserves the heritage of
French Canadian and Métis people
of Manitoba. It houses themed
exhibits, a large artifact collection of
Louis Riel, a restored chapel and a
boutique.
Open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to
4 p.m.; Saturday noon to 4 p.m.

NAVAL MUSEUM OF
MANITOBA
Located at H.M.C.S. Chippawa, this
museum is one of five accredited
naval museums in Canada. See the
many displays of artifacts including
ship models and bells, uniforms,
medals, heavy armament and much
more, including the Kit Shop. The
museum's goal is to preserve and
promote the history of naval heritage
in Manitoba as part of Canada's
Defence Team. Free admission.
Open Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to
3 p.m.; Sundays in July and August,
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tours available by
appointment.

PLACE SAINT-NORBERT

The heritage of St. Norbert is
depicted at the site of the former
Misericordia Sisters' orphanage
(1905-1948) through a log house,
pioneer butcher shop, Red River
cart, and the La Barriere monument
commemorating the 1869-1870 events
that prevented access to the colony. It
is also located adjacent to the site of
St. Norbert's Farmers' Market.
