MANITOBA MUSEUM www.manitobamuseum.ca This incredible edutainment centre covers both human and natural history using interactive displays, exhibits, fossils and more. Kids and adults alike relish the opportunity to board the Nonsuch, a life-sized replica 17th century ship which sailed across the Atlantic that has since become the heart of the museum, while its life- sized dioramas are truly marvelous. The museum also contains a science gallery brimming with hands-on exhibits; a state-of-the-art planetarium; massive replicas including giant sloths and mesosaurs; while it also frequently hosts award-winning travelling exhibits. ROYAL CANADIAN MINT www.mint.ca Tours of the Royal Canadian Mint are worth every penny, a joke which should be put out of circulation much like Canada's pennies. All kidding aside, this striking facility has produced over 55 billion coins for more than 75 countries using state-of-the-art processes you'll witness on a tour. The Mint experience also includes interactive displays that will test your worldly knowledge; a fabulous gift shop where you can purchase limited edition coins and memorabilia; the opportunity to hold a real gold bar worth over $500,000 (it's quite heavy); and other exhibits that showcase Canada's history and the artistry that goes into making money. THERMËA BY NORDIK SPA-NATURE www.thermea.ca Winnipeg's outdoor Scandinavian-inspired spa has proved so wildly popular after just two years in business that they are already in the midst of multi-million-dollar expansion. Thermal pools, Finnish saunas, luxuriant steam rooms, a tantalizing restaurant where dining in your robe is mandatory, top of the line massage and body treatments, and an overall atmosphere of pure relaxation are just a few of the things that keep locals and visitors alike coming back for more. WINNIPEG ART GALLERY www.wag.ca One of the city's most-striking buildings continues to push the boundaries with staggering touring and locally curated exhibits. The WAG houses over 24,000 pieces, including one of the world's largest collections of contemporary Inuit art, which soon will have its own home in the currently-in-construction Inuit Art Centre. It also plays host to some of Winnipeg's best parties and cultural events, while the rooftop sculpture garden is a must-visit during the summer months. 7. 8. 9. 10.
