Located downtown, Manitoba Hydro Place was the first large office tower in Canada to receive the LEED Platinum certification from the Canada Green Building Council. Fairmont Winnipeg is the city's first hotel to place bee hives on its roof, in partnership with Beeproject Apiaries. The harvested honey is then used in dishes for hotel guests to enjoy. Green With envy Winnipeg's Living Prairie Museum is one of the few remaining unplowed native tall grass reserves in North America; it is home to over 160 species of prairie plants and wildlife. Decommissioned shipping containers were transformed into sleek and striking washrooms by Assinboine Park's Lyric Theatre. These pretty potties have gone on to win numerous awards for design excellence.
