Winnipeg Over Disney?
Byers Family Viral Video Campaign
Marketing Event Spotlight
On November 3, Tourism Winnipeg launched a social media campaign
featuring a video of the Calgary-based Byers family, whose children
were upset when they found out they were going to Disney World
rather than Winnipeg.
The video quickly went viral and became EDW's highest-ever viewed
organic video with 446,000 views and over 3,300 shares. The story
was picked up by 11 different media outlets nationwide. EDW
promoted the video alongside an ad inviting families to Winnipeg,
which ran online in key regions including Calgary, North Dakota,
NW Ontario and Saskatchewan.
