The evidence is convincing: the biggest percentage of
economic growth within communities comes from companies
already on the ground there—and Winnipeg is no exception. Since
its inception in 2011, the YES! Winnipeg initiative of Economic
Development Winnipeg (EDW) has recorded multiple successes
playing the key business retention and expansion (BRE) role for
our city. In part, this involves meeting with local companies and
conducting in-depth interviews about upcoming plans, lingering
concerns, growth opportunities, etc. After assessing the resulting
information, EDW is in the best possible position to be an influencer
with the expertise to drive the economy forward in key areas.
