Since then, this single dealership has evolved into a national company with roots firmly planted in Manitoba. As CEO of the Doug Harvey Group of Companies, Doug now oversees an operation totaling 750 employees that includes both retail and manufacturing arms. RETAIL SALES AND SERVICE On the retail side, Maxim Truck & Trailer represents the biggest component of Doug's business, with 15 locations across Canada employing over 550 people. The company sells, leases, rents and repairs heavy-duty trucks and trailers for the transportation and resource industries. Acquisitions of Summit Trailer, with operations in Edmonton, Penticton and Prince George, complemented by Tereck Diesel's one facility in Winnipeg, have augmented Doug Harvey's retail business by offering convenient locations that now stretch from Vancouver to Montreal. MANUFACTURING On the manufacturing side, the Doug Harvey Group of Companies includes Winnipeg-based Arne's Welding Limited and P.E.I.-based Trout River Industries. These two companies build dump and live bottom trailers for the construction and resource industries. The manufactured trailers are subsequently sold through the Maxim and Summit retail groups, as well as via other national and international dealers.
