Meetings and Conventions Citywide Snapshot
Total citywide meetings and conventions in 2018 are comparable to 2017,
however delegates and room nights are pacing below 2017 results – at 4.6
and 4.5 per cent respectively. 2019 is shaping up to be a successful year
for meetings and conventions in Winnipeg, currently pacing with an equal
number of citywide events as 2018. 2019 has at least five large citywides
with over 1,000 confirmed delegates compared with two in 2018. 2020
is expected to be another successful year in part due to celebrations for
Manitoba's 150th anniversary since joining confederation. Currently, three
large citywides with at least 1,000 delegates are confirmed for 2020.
Sports and Special Events Citywide Snapshot
In 2018, Winnipeg will host eight citywide sports events compared to five
in 2017. Currently, there is one citywide confirmed in 2019 and 2020. Four
additional sports and special event citywides are prospects for 2019 and 2020.
