Inuit ingenuity
The Manitoba Museum is home to more than 2.6 million
artifacts and specimens, drawing on archeology, botany,
geology, zoology and ethnology to tell the story of this
unique region.
They also provide programs utilizing hands-on learning –
particularly when it comes to bringing the Arctic to the city.
The Inuit People of the North experience shines a light on the
traditional lifestyles of Inuit people, demonstrating how limited
resources of fur, skin, stone and bone shaped the northern
way of life. During this experience, participants will learn
expressions of culture and identity while creating, shaping
and polishing their own soapstone pendant to take home.

With Churchill's "profusion of natural wonders" and Winnipeg's "big city
sophistication," it's little wonder why the province of Manitoba is the only
Canadian location to make Lonely Planet's 2019 Top 10 Region - Best in travel list.
This north-south dynamic duo is always ready to impress, so before you head to
the land of polar bears get ready to experience why the city of Winnipeg is the
ideal complement to your northern adventure!
Polar park
Assiniboine Park Zoo's Journey to Churchill (JTC) is the world's foremost Arctic
species exhibit, a place where you'll get nearly nose-to-nose with polar bears
that swim right over your head. On its immense grounds, which mimic the
topography of the Churchill region, you'll also find muskox, Arctic fox, snowy owls
and movie star wolves that were featured in The Grey.
Adjacent to JTC – and integral to its zoological studies – is the Leatherdale
International Polar Bear Conservation Centre. Here, your group will get an
exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the laboratories where you'll meet members
of the Zoo's polar bear rescue team, who perform research on polar bear
denning and the effects of climate change on northern species when they are
not doing field research right in Churchill, MB.
