world. The latter was recently increased, creating a stronger team on the ground finding investment leads for Canada. Invest in Canada The mandate of this agency is to improve the marketing and branding of Canada as a preferred destination for direct investments. Consider Canada Cities Alliance (CCCA) The alliance has been the conduit that has allowed Canada's largest cities to coordinate efforts with the federal government on FDI attraction. Province of Manitoba (Economic Development Office and Manitoba AG) The recent economic strategy dictated by the Province identifies the Ministry of Economic Development and Training, as well as Manitoba Agriculture, as the departments that will directly work with the economic development ecosystem in the province. EDW is working with them in jointly pursuing FDI opportunities as Team Manitoba. World Trade Centre Winnipeg (WTCW) This agency houses ANIM, a francophone body that has the mandate of attracting investments from the francophone markets, with a strong focus on France. As the province's strategic partner for trade, it will be important to collaborate with this agency in the outreach work to international markets. Winnipeg Metropolitan Region (WMR) Some FDI opportunities may be better suited to locations outside Winnipeg city limits. It will be important to work in close partnership with the WMR team to facilitate those opportunities with municipalities in the region. The WMR team can assist us in facilitating a coordination of efforts with the municipalities within the region. FDI stock in Winnipeg There are approximately 170 foreign companies already located in Winnipeg. It will be important for the FDI team to leverage these companies to upsell Winnipeg to their respective head offices for future expansion plans. Foreign direct investment Economic Development Winnipeg (EDW) and YES! Winnipeg (YW) have a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) strategy that will proactively seek opportunities that are in line with Winnipeg's value proposition. An important element to the investment attraction framework will be visibility around FDI activities, especially as they relate to local and federal partners In addition, our FDI team recognizes there is clear value in partnerships, personal relationships, networks and back- channel communications when responding to or pursuing investment opportunities. This is an element we will continue to include throughout our strategy. Target markets Primary United States, Germany, France and UK Target audiences Primary site selectors, real estate brokers, foreign companies Secondary Invest in Canada, Global Affairs Canada (investment officer network) Industry collaboration It is key for our team to work in close partnership with industry associations, government agencies and businesses in order to increase FDI in Winnipeg.
