EQ3 The company is in the process of scaling up its local operations with 75 full-time positions and $550,000 in capital investment. The Winnipeg-based furniture manufacturer, designer and retailer considered expanding in other jurisdictions, but YW presented the best solution that would address its largest concern -- finding the right talent to grow. YW connected EQ3 with organizations such as Opportunities for Employment and Altered Minds. In addition, a partnership was put in place between EQ3 and The Cutting Edge with support from Altered Minds to help source sewing machine operators. Harvest Venture Builder YW mobilized important support as Harvest Venture Builder was being conceptualized and launched. This venture capital firm uses its strong relationships with enterprise, academia and corporate innovation partners across the Canadian Prairies to support high-potential companies. YW worked with Harvest to navigate government programming, provide strategic planning support and issue management related to planned site selection and government navigation. Canada Goose expansion The company opened its fourth Winnipeg location in 2019 that freed up space in its other locations. The 53,000 sq. ft. warehouse is a $1.1 million investment, with 14 jobs created and the potential for a higher headcount in the future. YW helped the company on several issues, including permitting and government navigation. YES! Winnipeg successes In 2019, our YW team helped six companies expand, which at maturity will create more than 1,300 jobs and more than $180 million in capital investment. These impacts will result in an estimated $60 million in new or retained annual payroll. 19 2019 Annual Report
