Laporte Engineering The company is one of Canada's 500 fastest-growing companies, opened its Winnipeg location in February 2019 with support from YW. The company specializes in biopharmaceutical, industrial, food and beverage engineering, and is working with local clients like Roquette. YW worked with Laporte for several months to identify and refer local clients. It also provided sector insights and data to demonstrate how the company could successfully grow in Winnipeg. At maturity, Laporte expects to hire six highly skilled full-time employees in Winnipeg, predominantly in engineering positions. Merit Functional Foods YW worked with the province, city, CentrePort and the R.M. of Rosser as part of Team Manitoba to attract Merit's facility – an innovative production process for pea and canola protein isolates. The 88,000 sq. ft. facility is an $80 million investment with 80 jobs initially, with potential for 240 more positions in the future. YW assisted with site selection, government navigation and program identification. Our team also worked closely on issue management with the city's water and waste department and the province's environmental licensing department. SkipTheDishes The company confirmed in November 2019 it was maintaining its Canadian headquarters in Winnipeg and will eventually occupy four-and-a-half floors (95,000 sq. ft.) at True North Square. YW worked with Skip for an extended period to sell Winnipeg and illustrate our competitive advantages versus other jurisdictions who were also courting them, along with assisting with government navigation at both the municipal and provincial levels as well as issue management. 20 2019 Annual Report
