Explore a Freemason's
mysterious monument
Easily one of North America's most fascinating buildings, the true meaning of the
Manitoba Legislative Building's architecture escaped historians and visitors for nearly
a century. It wasn't until 2007 that Dr. Frank Albo revealed that the building – which
was started in 1913 and completed in 1920 – is a modern homage to Solomon's
Temple created by a Freemason. Albo has a book and corresponding tour on
the matter called The Hermetic Code, which he normally runs through Heartland
International Travel and Tours.
While you can't currently embark on a Hermetic Code Tour due to the pandemic, you
can watch this fascinating documentary by Canadiana called Winnipeg's Secret
Code. It does a top-notch job examining its unique architect and telling the tale of
how it was built while also shedding light on Winnipeg's early 20th-century history –
all in just 18 minutes!
