A view to the zoo
(and also looking at The Leaf!)
Assiniboine Park Conservancy wants to ensure you can
keep in touch with some of the zoo's most-loved animals
during this time of social distancing. To do this, they
have launched LIVE Creature Features which introduce
viewers to the zoo's inhabitants and their trainers. The
videos provide fascinating behind-the-scenes footage that
will show you sides of the swimming polar bears, seals,
red pandas, and snow leopards that you'd never get in
person.
Looking to the future, Assiniboine Park continues to work
on its blockbuster horticultural attraction, The Leaf at
Canada's Diversity Gardens. The Leaf will feature several
biomes which replicate the flora found in areas around
the world. This immense attraction will also feature one
of the world's largest indoor waterfalls and a butterfly
garden at the building's apex. The Leaf is scheduled to
open in 2021. In the meantime, check out all of its features
in this jazzy, tranquil animated rendering.

Hold the Fort
Fort Gibraltar is both a cool piece of Winnipeg history and the
site of many of our best festivals and events. Each winter, this
replica circa 1810 North West Company fur trading fort plays
host to Festival du Voyageur, Western Canada's largest winter
festival, while come summer it comes alive with costumed
interpreters who will bring you back to the life as it was during
the early 19th century.
While you can't currently walk within its hallowed walls in person,
you can still explore it virtually using this fun 360 Fort Gibraltar
Tour site. The tour is hosted by two interpreters who will introduce
you to the many different cabins of the fort, while the 360-degree
control allows you take in all the sights and sounds in the process.
