Tourism Winnipeg highlights Rebooking events Although the return to in-person meetings and the evolution of business events remained in flux, the constant was our ability to lead the city's business development and marketing efforts. The priority was to assist partners and clients in rebooking events that were scheduled to be held in Winnipeg in 2020. This required countless hours of negotiations to ensure Winnipeg remained a location of choice for events once they could resume. Economic sector strategy TW revised and adapted the value proposition for business events in Winnipeg specific to the city's economic sectors. A lead generator company assisted in identifying local ambassadors that were on boards, committees and/or had made significant contributions in their fields of expertise. Of particular interest, were local ambassadors from the agri-business, advanced manufacturing, information and community technology (ICT) and life sciences sectors. Virtual site visits/familiarization tours We developed a new tool during the pandemic so we could continue to engage with meeting planners, decision makers and secure future events for our city. We started offering personalized virtual site visits to communicate our value proposition, raise awareness about Winnipeg as a meeting and convention destination and highlight the delegate's journey. Videos focused on the airport arrival, tours of Winnipeg's meeting hubs and the city. Tourism Winnipeg (TW) is the city's official destination marketing organization and leads all efforts to attract visitors, group tours, special events, sports, meetings and conventions to Winnipeg. TW highlights the city's star attractions, festivals, events, arts, culture, restaurants and services to provide residents and visitors the best possible experience. Mike Peters 24 2020 Annual Report
