While more and more travellers
search for outdoor experiences
and a city's natural beauty,
Winnipeg has always offered a
breath of fresh air. Come see what
awaits under our lush elm canopy,
where the prairie turns to paths
and rivers that provide all sorts of
outdoor adventures.
Winnipeg,
a breath of
fresh air
The call of the wild—from
within the city!
FortWhyte Alive's mission has always been to connect people with nature while fostering
sustainable relationships with the natural world. This gorgeous 660-acre reclaimed urban
green space has it all – from 7 km of trails that traverse aspen forests to several lakes
(via boardwalks) and open prairie. Wildlife watching includes whitetail deer, countless
bird species and North America's largest urban bison herd. And the working farm
supplies ingredients to the onsite Buffalo Stone Café, which overlooks Lake Devonian.
A day here will see you fishing, cycling and canoeing (rentals available onsite) using
easy to follow trail maps. Its Interpretive Centre features fascinating displays on local
flora and fauna while come autumn, real fowl are everywhere, particularly at dusk during
Annual Goose Flight events.
