and globally significant Important Bird Area. You can discover its natural bounty in
all manner of ways, from large voyageur canoes, to hip waders that will put you

While exploring Oak Hammock Marsh you'll see an exceptional array of birds,

Take a polar plunge
Assiniboine Park Zoo's Journey to Churchill is the world's
foremost Arctic species exhibit, a place where you'll get
nearly nose-to-nose with polar bears that swim right over your
head. On its immense grounds, which mimic the topography
of the Churchill region, you'll also find muskox, Arctic fox,
snowy owls, wolves and seals.
This area of the zoo is also home to the Leatherdale
International Polar Bear Conservation Centre, whose research
scientists – who spend much of their time in Churchill – just
starred in the CBC television series,
Arctic Vets. It all makes
for a day of adventure that will have you prepared for what's
in store up north.
