Winter wonderland Day 1 Winnipeg's number one tourist attraction, The Forks has it all. Rent skates in the market and then explore Arctic Glacier Park. As you skate, you'll cross over bridges and snake your way to the picturesque hockey rink at CN Stage, which is situated right below the WINNIPEG sign. This scene is stunning come nightfall, as a canopy of lights strung from the trees guides your way. From The Forks Harbour, head out on the Nestaweya River Trail – be it on skates, a fat tire bike or kicksled. The river trail spans several kilometers down both the Red and Assiniboine Rivers, flaunting zany warming huts that have been celebrated in the likes of the LA Times and countless design publications. Après skate (or simply go for some fabulous dining) inside to The Forks Market. Its Common bar has a craft beer and wine selection that is anything but common, plus it is surrounded by tantalizing food kiosks. Throughout the market you'll also find numerous shops brimming with local designs like moccasins, candles, art and more. Known as "the cultural cradle of Canada," Winnipeg's robust arts, music and theatre scene ensures there is always a performance to catch. Two of the city's busiest include the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, who present a diverse array of productions throughout the year. Day 2 Immerse yourself in nature without ever leaving the city. FortWhyte Alive is a one- stop destination for all things winter—from snowshoeing to ice fishing, tobogganing and hiking—with numerous special events and experiences to enhance your visit. Take a walk through its aspen forest, making sure to catch a glimpse of Canada's only urban bison herd. After, stop in at the Buffalo Stone Café to warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or a late lunch while looking out on Lake Devonian.
