Manitoba Hydro has a proud history of powering the province
and is now on its way to becoming the utility of the future.
Established in 1961, it is now one of the largest integrated
utilities in Canada, safely and reliably serving approximately
600,900 electric customers and 290,500 natural gas customers
across the province.
But the energy landscape is changing. Electric vehicles,
distributed generation such as solar, local energy storage
and new digital technologies are all examples of changes
happening right now around the world, even here in Canada.
As the world decarbonizes and moves to a cleaner
energy future, Manitoba Hydro needs to be ready.
That's why Manitoba Hydro developed a 20-year vision—
Strategy 2040—that puts its customers' needs front and
centre. Focused on ensuring customers get more than just
reliable, affordable electricity and natural gas service, this
vision positions Manitoba Hydro to provide Manitobans with
the advice to manage their energy needs well into the future.
The goal is to be a trusted energy adviser to Manitobans
today and tomorrow.
