Who we are Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. (EDW) is the city's lead economic development agency and champion for local growth. We use expert analysis to highlight Winnipeg's advantages and prove why we are the best place to live, invest, work and visit. Governed by a private-sector board and driven by the needs of the business community, EDW grows the local economy by attracting business, investment, events and people to our city. » Our YES! Winnipeg business development team promotes the city as the ideal location for new business, expansion, investment and top talent, making it easy to grow and invest in Winnipeg through a suite of specialized services, market intelligence and business connections. » Our Tourism Winnipeg team is the city's official destination marketing organization and leads all efforts to attract visitors, special events, sports, meetings and conventions to Winnipeg and provide residents and visitors the best possible experience. Economic Development Winnipeg acknowledges we are located on Treaty 1 territory, the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dene peoples and on the homeland of the Red River Métis. In recognition of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action 92 and as a signatory to the City of Winnipeg's Indigenous Accord, EDW pledges to support Indigenous economic development, and to collaborate with Indigenous businesses and organizations in project and talent development. We commit to building respectful relationships and ongoing conversations with Indigenous communities that will lead to economic prosperity for everyone. Both here at home and in identified target markets, EDW's qualified professionals connect meaningfully with industry stakeholders, business community leaders and government partners, leveraging data and insightful market research to identify opportunities for business development, foreign direct investment, talent attraction and tourism. 2022 was a meaningful year for economic growth in our city and, in many cases, EDW was the catalyst of that growth. The following pages highlight special initiatives and projects and summarize EDW's 2022 results. On behalf of EDW's Board of Directors, I convey my sincere thanks to outgoing President & CEO Dayna Spiring for her relentless commitment to strengthening the organization's profile, to addressing obstacles to growth and putting Winnipeg on the map.
