5 When an organization is writing its next chapter, its teams must be prepared to innovate and take calculated risks. Moving the needle requires a degree of fearlessness, as well as big vision. For Economic Development Winnipeg, 2022 was a year characterized by significant investment, expansion and brand elevation. Our growing teams demonstrated excellence in strategic execution and the agility to leverage opportunities as they arose. Locally driven, globally oriented In 2022, we took Winnipeg out onto the world stage, generating interest in our competitive advantages and palpable excitement about our city by: » Breathing life into Winnipeg's new place brand, empowering us all to tell a cohesive, visually stunning story. » Surpassing our YES! Winnipeg Real Impact year two campaign goals and attracting unprecedented public sector funding, amplifying our support for local business expansion and retention, and enabling investment in critical foreign talent and business attraction strategies. » Contributing to the creation of more than 1,800 ongoing jobs and attracting $367 million in capital investment. » Launching a renewed Team Winnipeg campaign to strengthen our business events go-to-market strategy. » Booking upcoming meetings and conventions creating $80 million in economic impact, through the collaborative efforts of our Tourism Winnipeg team. » Welcoming back visitors to Winnipeg, including leisure and group travellers, as well as conference delegates, which saw hotel room nights exceed pre-pandemic levels. As this annual report message represents my last on behalf of EDW, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to the team and our key partners for their trust, engagement and investment. It has been my privilege to have led this organization for more than seven years, and I look forward to watching its continued upward trajectory under the stewardship of a dedicated board and the vision of a new leader. 2022 was a year of real impact and exceptional achievements for EDW. We love Winnipeg and it shows. Message from the President & CEO Dayna Spiring President & CEO Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. 2022 Annual Report
