You'll discover great ideas (and not so great ideas) in flight, and develop a true appreciation for the adventuring spirit of Canada's aviation legends. Check the website for visiting aircraft, as well as special events and guided tours. Tour the hangar to see the recovered and restored aircraft or simply relax on the Flight Deck and watch the air traffic on the international airport runways. Kids (2-12) will enjoy Skyways — the interactive play area where they can fly a plane, challenge the wind, spot a flying saucer and still be back in time for dinner. On-site gift shop. Free parking. Known around the world as an iconic modernist building, the WAG presents a constantly changing exhibition schedule of national and international art, as well as emphasizing the work of Manitoba artists. The Gallery Shop carries unique jewellery, ceramics, and glassware handcrafted by Canadian artists. The bright and airy Table Restaurant (formerly Storm Bistro) overlooks the rooftop sculpture garden. The WAG is open year-round. Hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., until 9 p.m. Fridays. See the Countess of Dufferin — the first steam locomotive on the Prairies. You'll also see and learn about diesel and electric locomotives; rolling stock; maintenance of way equipment; the history of CN, CP, City of Winnipeg rail; the construction of the Hudson Bay Railway; the struggle of women to enter the railroad industry, and a large HO-gauge model layout.
