Prospecting, servicing, presentations, chamber of commerce sponsorships, promotional brochures, and advertising supports this initiative in order to increase the number of conventions held in Winnipeg. Since 2012, the "Bring it Home" program has yielded 95 conventions representing 37,000 delegates for an estimated direct spend of $39 million. Tourism Winnipeg is currently in discussion with more than 60 Winnipeg leaders for future meetings and conventions ranging from 2017 to 2023. RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg Tourism Winnipeg and the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg have aligned their sales activities to capitalize on the convention centre expansion and to increase effectiveness in attracting citywide conferences. Tourism Winnipeg and the RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg will continue to meet regularly to formulate sales strategies, cross-reference leads, and enhance requests for proposals (RFPs). Canadian Museum for Human Rights Tourism Winnipeg collaborates with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to increase meetings and conventions to Winnipeg. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is a catalyst to attract new markets and opportunities, such as meeting and convention groups in the industries of architecture, education, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender), human rights, faith-based, social issues, etc. on a worldwide basis. Familiarization Tours and Site Inspections Tourism Winnipeg will collaborate with industry to co-host meeting and convention clients on site visits of Winnipeg. Tourism Winnipeg will increase sales activities to qualify clients and elevate offerings to assist in the selection of Winnipeg as a meeting and convention destination. Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Bids Tourism Winnipeg's customer relations system, Simpleview, provides an efficient means of submitting RFPs and bids through an extranet site. This system has improved the process and increased effectiveness. In 2016 (January to July 31), Tourism Winnipeg and stakeholders have responded to 30 RFPs and bids which have resulted in the win of 10 meetings and conventions to date, and are awaiting decisions on an additional 16 conventions. This compares to 2015 in which Tourism Winnipeg won 14 of the 31 requests for proposals and bids. Convention Servicing Tourism Winnipeg offers services to meetings and conventions to ensure delegates optimize tourism opportunities that the city offers for their stay in Winnipeg. A Meeting Planner Service Toolkit provides pre-convention promotional information on Winnipeg and visitor information booths for citywide conventions. MEETINGS AND CONVENTIONS MARKETING Tourism Winnipeg will develop and produce impactful marketing materials to position Winnipeg as an ideal meeting and convention destination. In addition to the following, Tourism Winnipeg creates Winnipeg sell sheets to attract business and will grow the @meetingwinnipeg twitter account for increased conversation and activity through social media.
