Sport Manitoba is pleased to offer its full support to Tourism Winnipeg along with True
North Sports & Entertainment, Tourism Saskatoon, SaskTel and the respective
provincial and municipal governments, to bring the 2019 International Ice Hockey
Federation (IIHF) World Junior Hockey Championship to Winnipeg and Saskatoon.
Winnipeg has a strong record of hosting very successful national and international
sporting events, and with this history comes a strong community of committed
volunteers, dedicated sport administrators, and excellent sport and hospitality facilities.
Whether it is the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, the return of the Winnipeg
Jets in 2011, our bid and future hosting of the upcoming 2017 Canada Summer Games,
or many more – Winnipeg has thrived when called upon to showcase the community's
ability to come together to organize and support sport on a large, international scale.
Sport Manitoba is pleased to offer its support to this 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey
Championship bid committee, and believe Winnipeg and Saskatoon – with the support
of the organizations and communities involved – would be a great fit for this beloved
and celebrated tournament.
