Communities in each province will adopt participating teams with similar ethnic heritage. For example Humboldt Saskatchewan is a strong German community with a rich hockey history. They would be a perfect match for the German team. Each selected community will develop special activities to make their adopted teams feel at home. We propose to place pre-tournament games on all WHl and other junior hockey centres that may have a tie with the particular teams. Manitoba and Saskatchewan are world-famous for our hospitality and will provide a positive environment for our special hockey guests to play in and to experience. World hockey galas Formal Galas will take place in Winnipeg and Saskatoon featuring professionally produced stage shows highlighting more than 100 years of organized hockey in central Canada and the hockey heroes, players and builders who have put Canada on the world stage of international hockey. Manitoba and Saskatchewan entertainment and cuisine will be served to ticket buyers, sponsors, and officials from the IIHF and Hockey Canada. FirSt nationS involvement Manitoba and Saskatchewan both have a significant First Nations population and we intend to create opportunities for that demographic to benefit from the tournament. The Winnipeg Jets have an exceptional program to support First Nations youth and intend to leave a significant legacy to that group from the event. Saskatchewan plans to play a pre-tournament game in laRonge, a primarily First Nations community with an SJHl hockey team in northern Saskatchewan. Thanks to the legacies and sponsors, hockey equipment will also be donated to young First Nations players. Opportunities for mini training camps and hockey clinics will be made available. neWcomerS introDuction to hockey An entire new group of future players and fans continues to grow in Canada with the addition of thousands of new immigrants. Although hockey is basically a foreign sport to these people, their love of sports makes them an ideal developmental market. Our special events and opportunities to purchase or receive family-affordable tickets will be a great way to integrate them into the Canadian sports fabric and a whole new way of life. manitoba / SaSkatcheWan Although Winnipeg and Saskatoon will be the official host cities of the 2019 Championship, make no mistake the entire provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan will be totally involved in hosting the best IIHF World Junior Championship ever.
