Friends of Upper Fort Garry
Upper Fort Garry Provincial Park is the place
where the Province of Manitoba was born and
the decision was made to join Canada. Today
this site has been revitalized, re-energized and
fort and area stories are being told through
technology, art and a sound and light show.
Threads of history and artistic icons highlighting
key moments in time will take you from the
areas early indigenous people through to
modern times.
The sound and light show adds another story
telling element. Groups can learn in new,
creative and interesting ways and have a lot of
fun while doing it. Visit the website for a free app
that opens the door to history. Download the
app to your phone or tablet and the history of
the fort's buildings and the historical icons on the
Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Heritage Wall will
be right in your hand. A new and exciting way to
experience a unique spot in Canada's history.
The Friends of Upper of Fort Garry have also
collaborated with teachers to create some
great resources for educators, which can be
conveniently downloaded from their website.
