While some of the attention is courte-
sy of our newest attractions like the Cana-
dian Museum for Human Rights – which
has won awards across the globe, and
Journey to Churchill – the world's most
comprehensive Arctic species exhibit,
a lot of it can be attributed to the city's
overall vibe.
Winnipeg's legendary hospitality has
been complimented by hotels (both new
and newly remodelled), tourist draws,
festivals, and a design community that is
constantly making the city more beautiful.
Our culinary scene has been celebrated
by the likes of the New York Times and
Toronto Star (to name but a few), while
Winnipeg's stages are home to some of
Canada's most-reputable performance
groups.
Plus, the newly $180 million remod-
elled and expanded RBC Convention
Centre Winnipeg had a banner first year
as one of Canada's largest publicly-owned
convention centres.
In 2016, Winnipeg played host to 12
citywide conventions with more than
15,400 delegates, almost triple the
amount had in 2015 – which was previ-
ously a record year. Of particular note
were the rave reviews garnered over a two
week period when the RBC Convention
Centre Winnipeg hosted Centrallia 2016
(May 25-27), the Liberal Party of Canada
Winnipeg is one happening city right now,
and the world is taking note.
