Special support and visitor counseling services will be made available for all participants and their families. We know what the athletes and their families need. Winnipeg and Manitoba have the organizational experience and Sport Manitoba has representatives and officials for every sport. In addition, with some 100 languages spoken in Winnipeg alone, participants from all nations will have access to services they need in their language and in consideration of their culture. SPORT VENUES » The legacy of the 1999 Pan Am Games means the Winnipeg region has quality facilities in all sports. In 1999, CanWest Global Park, a downtown made-for-baseball gem-of-a-venue was built. In 2012, Investors Group Field with seating for up to 40,000 opened and is one of Canada's newest stadiums, United Health & RecPlex is a new state-of-the-art multi-purpose recreational complex at the University of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Soccer Federation North Complex is a top- notch indoor field and the 2017 Sport For Life Centre is a state-of- the-art field house and training facility. Winnipeg is fortunate to have sport and recreation facilities that overall, exceed requirements for the 2023 Games. ACCESSIBILIT Y » Winnipeg is located in the heart of the continent, providing central access to participants coming from all points in North America. The new, LEED Silver certified Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport operates 24/7, serves over four million passengers annually and is a Canadian leader in cargo and freight traffic. As Canada's largest airport between Calgary and Toronto, YWG is a hub for Canada's two major domestic airlines, and has very good connections across Canada and internationally. The airport is also conveniently located 20 minutes from downtown Winnipeg. COMMUNIT Y-WIDE SUPPORT » The 2023 World Police and Fire Games will own Winnipeg and Manitoba. No other event or distraction will affect the Games. Winnipeg and Manitoba take community involvement to a whole new level, as other international events have experienced. The Games are concentrated in Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba, with a metropolitan population of approximately 800,000, and nearly one million people live within a two-hour radius.
