TURTLE ISLAND TEACHINGS
The stunning architecture of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights
is revealed to mirror indigenous teachings on the Mikinak-Keya Spirit
tour, a collaboration between the Museum and a group of seven First
Nations elders from the region.
Inspired by ceremony and living oral traditions, this tour provides
insight into the seven sacred teachings that call on each of us to take
responsibility for how we live and treat each other. The tour focuses on the
Museum's architecture and use of space rather than the exhibits. Visitors
will experience singing, storytelling, works of art and amazing views on this
astonishing tour.

AUTHENTIC INDIGENOUS
INUIT INGENUITY
Lead by Museum interpreters, the Manitoba Museum's Inuit People
of the North program is an interactive artefact study and gallery
tour that provides an understanding of their traditional lifestyles.
Participants, through interacting with objects and the presentation,
learn about the Inuit as hunters, gatherers and fishers, and their
seasonal dependency on migratory game.
The gallery tour focuses on the Arctic/Sub-Arctic region, and
demonstrates how the limited resources of fur, skin, stone and
bone were integral to the Inuit. This program is a perfect addition
for those groups who are heading up north to see polar bears or
beluga whales in Churchill, Manitoba.
