From creative itineraries and behind-the-scene tours to fabulous hotels, amazing attractions and unique dining experiences, Winnipeg Tour Connection is an easy choice. The following enthusiastic suppliers are committed to providing inviting experiences that offer travellers a sense of exploration, discovery and inspiration. BACK TO THE FUR TRADE Bring your group back to 1815 at Fort Gibraltar, Winnipeg's original North West Company trading post which was so integral to the fur trade. Within its recreated 18-foot walls your group will discover a settlement still living life like it was in the early 19th century – just minutes from downtown within Winnipeg's charming French Quarter. Your group will relish being regaled with tales from a colourful cast of pioneers as they make their way through historic cabins. Interact with the blacksmith and carpenter as they produce tools essential to the fur trade, then learn to play the spoons and do some jigging. After playing some rambunctious voyageur games, such as axe throwing, delectable French cuisine can be served in the Maison du Bourgeois or baked over an open fire in the courtyard. A commemorative Voyageur contract and wooden spoons will also available for individuals to take home – all after taking a toast with Caribou, a fortified liqueur, of course. www.fortgibraltar.com • 204.258.2561 OAK HAMMOCK MARSH The mission at Oak Hammock Marsh is to connect people with wetlands, which happens almost instantaneously when you look out over the vast marsh and hear sounds from up to 300 species of birds, countless amphibians, and the dozens of mammals who call this place home. This Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA) was designed to be a key migratory habitat and waterfowl-breeding centre, and during the Bird in the Hand Canadian Signature Experience you'll discover why. During this interactive tour, you'll literally feel tiny feathers flutter in the palm of your hand before releasing a newly banded songbird into the wild (all part of important migratory research) before heading out into the wetlands on canoes where the smell of blooming wildflowers and close encounters with colourful birds perched atop cattails are always on the agenda. oakhammockmarsh.ca • 1.800.665.3825 P hoto c o urte sy M i k e Pe t ers Ph o to co urte sy K a r e n A lle n
