These efforts created greater awareness of Winnipeg as an investment destination and resulted in three FDI leads. Tooling to strategically target foreign investors Our FDI team developed a toolkit that assembled a few carefully selected tools that allowed the YW team to be more strategic in its targeting of foreign investors and its outreach efforts. This tool offers unique benefits including the ability to produce a list of key markets, companies, incentives offered by other jurisdictions to these companies and contacts within identified companies. This targeted approach will make working with our federal partners much more impactful. Talent & workforce development Despite the pandemic, our Talent team facilitated some key wins for Winnipeg companies in recruitment and workforce development. Travel restrictions meant our original plans for international recruitment missions had to shift to national recruitment missions, instead. As part of our efforts, we launched an online talent hub, created new talent services and established key partnerships. Employer, government and post-secondary engagement Strong partnerships are critical for us to meet the current and future talent needs of local businesses. We established the Talent Advisory Council to continually engage with all levels of government. The council included 15 members from key sectors and five post-secondary institutions. We also worked with post-secondary institutions and sector councils to organize two recruitment missions targeting skilled workers and promoting the benefits of working in the Winnipeg region. The spring mission started with a focus on Ukraine, but after travel restrictions limited employers' ability to meet and make offers to international candidates, we pivoted to target talent within Canada. The fall mission campaign, Winnipeg Calling, focused on attracting national and local talent, and resulted in Winnipeg companies connecting with job seekers. The campaign targeted Manitoba expats, graduates from local post- secondary institutions and skilled talent from across Canada. Work-integrated learning proposal Our team fostered strong partnerships with post-secondary institutions and collaborated on a joint federal funding submission. The goal was to improve industry and post- secondary alignment and create a framework around work- integrated learning. As a result, our team and the University of Manitoba was awarded funding to create a pilot project in 2021 around work-integrated learning in the agriculture sector. Talent Hub launch We initiated the creation of the Talent Hub to make materials and information on talent more accessible to a wider audience. It included testimonial videos, quality of life resources and assets employers could use as part of their strategy to promote Winnipeg and attract talent. While the site launched in 2020, we will reassess to improve upon the site and develop more resources in 2021. Investor relations YES!
