Air Canada Taking off towards a more sustainable future We all agree climate change requires a collective approach and to address global warming in a meaningful way, Air Canada set an ambitious net-zero emissions by 2050 goal, and a strategy to achieve it. We have firm accountability goals to achieve net reductions in greenhouse gases from both flight and ground operations by 2030, using 2019 as a baseline. Progress is disclosed through our regular annual corporate and sustainability reporting. One of our strategies includes tackling CO2 emissions from commercial aviation. We're accelerating the supply and use of sustainable aviation fuel to reach 10 per cent of global jet aviation supply by 2030, to which we have committed $50 million, and offset arrangements. Building a long-term, sustainable, global aviation ecosystem requires a collective effort. Our LEAVE LESS Travel Program offers corporate customers effective options to contribute to their own sustainability goals. Deloitte Canada is the first participant to sign on. The program is flexible and corporate customers can customize their approach to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with their business travel on Air Canada. Customers can purchase sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), carbon offsets or a combination of both. Based on the customer's choice, Air Canada then facilitates the purchase of carbon offsets and/ or purchases the required SAF volumes to ensure the customer can claim the benefits of their investment. Carbon offsets broadly refer to a reduction in GHG emissions to compensate for GHG emissions made elsewhere, and SAF reduces direct emissions released from aircraft engines. This first delivery batch of SAF will be sourced from Neste, a leading producer of renewable fuels. SAF reduces GHG emissions from jet fuel consumption by up to 80 per cent versus conventional fossil jet fuel. Given the urgency of climate change, more customers, investors and communities insist organizations think more sustainably. It is also the right thing to do for present and future generations.
